Title: Pathogenetic features of cardiovascular pathology in patients with osteoarthritis

Abstract

The aim: to study the clinical and pathogenetic relationships of the parameters of chronic heart failure (CHF), which developed against the background of arterial hypertension (AH) and coronary heart disease (CHD) in women suffering from osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee joints.
Materials and methods: 107 patients suffering from CHF developed against the background of hypertension and coronary heart disease were examined, 60 of them with OA of the knee joints. The assessment of laboratory research complexes was carried out: lipid metabolism, parameters of systemic inflammation, kidney function, etc. Morphofunctional parameters of the myocardium were evaluated. Methods of statistical processing of the obtained results included descriptive statistics, correlation analysis.
Results: patients with CHF and OA showed worse indicators of lipidogram parameters, renal function, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, NT-proBNP and galectin-3 levels compared with patients with CHF without OA. In the CHF and OA group, statistically significant associations of galectin-3 with blood pressure levels, dyslipidemia, estimated glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and NT-proBNP levels were revealed.
Conclusion. The presence of a statistically significant association of galectin-3 with CHF decompensation factors in patients with OA reveals new pathogenetic features of the course of this comorbid pathology. Apparently, the use of galectin-3 is possible as a marker for the diagnosis of decompensation in this group of patients
