Pediatric cardiac intensive care has emerged as a specialized clinical entity dedicated to the unique needs of critically ill neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients with congenital and acquired heart disease. Effective pediatric cardiac intensive care management requires a comprehensive understanding of congenital heart disease physiology, surgical interventions and postoperative hemodynamic management. Achieving optimal outcomes depends on close collaboration among cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.

The presentation will provide a practical overview of the fundamental principles of postoperative management in pediatric cardiac patients and how these factors influence hemodynamics and clinical decision-making. It will highlight how understanding the patient’s preoperative status, intraoperative course, and postoperative anatomy is essential for successful intensive care management.
