Track: Cardiac Nursing and Women’s Heart Health
_-_Copy.webp)
The "Cardiac
Nursing and Women’s Heart Health" session will focus on the unique
aspects of cardiac care in women, highlighting the evolving role of cardiac
nursing in addressing gender-specific heart health issues. It will explore the
latest research on the distinct risk factors and symptoms of cardiovascular
diseases in women, including hormonal influences and the impact of
pregnancy-related conditions. The session will also cover innovative nursing
interventions, patient education strategies, and the importance of early
detection in improving heart health outcomes for women. Through this session,
participants will gain valuable knowledge on how to enhance care for women with
cardiovascular conditions, improving prevention, treatment, and long-term
health outcomes.
Cardiovascular
Monitoring in Critical Care: Explore the importance of continuous
cardiovascular monitoring in the critical care unit (CCU) and intensive care
unit (ICU). Learn about the use of advanced tools like invasive blood pressure
monitoring, pulmonary artery catheters, and cardiac output monitoring to track
the patient's hemodynamic status and guide treatment decisions.
Management of
Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS): Delve into the management of ACS in critical
care, including ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and non-ST-elevation
myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). Learn about the pharmacologic and
interventional therapies, including thrombolysis, PCI, and stent placement,
along with the nursing care required during the acute phase.
Heart Failure
Management in Critical Care: Gain insights into the assessment and management
of acute heart failure in critical care patients. Learn about inotropes,
vasodilators, and diuretics, along with mechanical circulatory support devices
like intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP) and ventricular assist devices (VADs),
and their application in managing severe heart failure.
Cardiogenic
Shock and Hemodynamic Support: Explore the causes, diagnosis, and management of
cardiogenic shock, a life-threatening condition often caused by heart failure
or severe myocardial infarction. Learn about the various hemodynamic support
strategies, including inotropic therapy, mechanical circulatory support, and
the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
Cardiac Surgery and Post-Operative Care: Discuss the post-operative management of
patients who have undergone cardiac surgery, including coronary artery bypass
grafting (CABG), valve replacements, and heart transplantations. Learn about
nursing care for thoracic drains, intubation, and pain management in the
immediate post-operative phase.
Nursing
Interventions in Cardiac Arrest and Resuscitation: Learn about the essential
nursing interventions during cardiac arrest and advanced cardiac life support
(ACLS). Understand the latest guidelines for CPR, defibrillation, and
post-cardiac arrest care to improve survival and neurological outcomes.
Nurses' Role
in Patient Education and Advocacy: Learn about the critical role nurses play in
educating patients and families about cardiovascular diseases, treatment
options, lifestyle modifications, and managing expectations during
hospitalization and recovery. Understand the importance of advocacy for optimal
patient care in the ICU setting.
